What does a steam session look like?
A steam session begins with an in-take to make sure that steaming is not contraindicated. Then, herbs are carefully selected to address each clients' specific concerns. Once herbs are selected, they are steeped in warm water, once the water cools enough for the steam to be a comfortable temperature, they are placed into a "steaming box" which allows women to sit comfortably, while the steam does its magic. The session is done is privacy and is very relaxing. Some women are advised to steam from no longer than 10 minutes, while the advanced steam set up can last up to 30 minutes.
Can I do this at home?
Yes! Steaming is most effective when practiced on a regular basis, however a Certified Steam Facilitator can help you to identify which herbs to use as well as how long to steam for and how often so that you can safely and confidently use steaming in your on-going self-care regimens.
Are there side effects?
Yes, and most of them are great! Women report increased relaxation, heightened libido and sexual sensation, heightened fertility, circulation improvement, decreased PMS symptoms, water retention disbursement, emotional balance, skin beautification, tightened and lifted vaginal canal, scar softening, decreased cramping and regular periods.
There are some temporary side effects that are often the result of old residue clearing out of the uterus. This can include temporary clots clearing out in the menses, cramping caused by the contractions of the uterus to push out old debris, temporary increase of vaginal discharge as old residue and mucous is cleansed out. This will all be discussed in detail during your session.
